Many people wonder how they can make their lives better, and they often turn outward for solutions. While there is nothing wrong with that, the real changes happen inside of you. That is why I decided to write about the Law of Attraction. I believe that by practicing what the Law of Attraction preaches, you can develop a more positive worldview. In this article I want to give you a deeper understanding of how to use the Law of Attraction.
What Is The Law Of Attraction
Core Focus:
The Law of Attraction supports the idea that our thoughts, positive or negative, impact our lives in various ways. This belief is based on the fact that each thought has its own frequency and energy, which attracts other experiences with that same energy or frequency. It is believed the power of your thoughts attracts all the experiences you have and everything that comes into your life. The law of attraction puts forward that people have the ability to attract whatever they focus on the most. If you think of things positively, you will experience things positively, and if you focus on the negative, you will get a negative experience.
What Does The Law Of Attraction Encourage?
The law of attraction does not encourage constant positivity and the view that negative thoughts are bad. All thoughts have a right to exist, but the ones you hold onto are up to you. You can dwell on something negative that happened to you, or you can find the lesson that experience provided you with and improve.
Origin And Creators Of The Law of Attraction
The law of attraction has gained popularity through many pieces of literature: The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale, and many more books. But the roots of the law of attraction come from many ancient and Eastern teachings. Although in many Buddhist and Christian teachings, it was not referred to as the Law of Attraction. Teachings found in the Hermeticism ascribed to Hermes Trismegistus entertained the concept that like attracts like. A famous Hermetic text, The Emerald Tablet, has the famous maxim included in it, “As above, so below; as below, so above.”
Scientific Evidence Of The Law Of Attraction
Neuroplasticity—The Brain’s Ability To Change
Neuroplasticity is our brain’s ability to reshape itself and change according to our life experiences. Thoughts change the brain just as much as action does. If you consistently think thoughts of success, happiness, and abundance (just like the law of attraction encourages), you reinforce positive neural pathways within your brain, making these thought patterns easier to fall into over time.
Reticular Activating System (RAS)—The Brain’s Filter
The RAS in your brain is a bundle of nerves at your brainstem that filters out unnecessary information so that only important stuff gets through. Whatever you focus on the most is what your brain creates a filter for. It sifts through pieces of information and finds ones that are only significant to you. This is why when you learn a new word, you suddenly start seeing it everywhere. So in essence, if you focus on the bad things, bad things will come to you; if you focus on the good things, good things will be flowing your way. This is because your brain is seeking them out.
Confirmation Bias and Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
Confirmation bias is our tendency to look for things that reinforce our beliefs. If your really believe you are capable of achieving success, your brain will look for signs that you are capable of success. If you truly believe you will fail, your brain will look for things that are proof you will fail.
Visualization and Mental Rehearsal
Many studies have shown that visualizing yourself doing something activates the same parts of the brain that would be activated if you were actually doing the action. Even Olympic athletes use mental imagery to improve their performances. In neuroscience this is called functional equivalence—your brain treats mental imagery similarly to real action.
Positive Psychology and Mental Health:
One well-known study that supports the law of attraction is in the Yonsei Medical Journal. In 2007 Korean researchers noticed that there was a correlation between consistent positive thinking and life satisfaction. Positive psychology and mental health researchers have identified a connection between gratitude and great health. Dr. Joe Dispenza claimed there about 1,200 chemical reactions that gratitude sets in motion to help heal and restore your body.
How Will The Law Of Attraction Benefit You?
The Law of Attraction is an amazing tool you can use to bring positivity into your life. Even if you are not someone who believes in the Law of Attraction itself, I’m sure you can still say that positive thinking does result in a happier worldview, which in turn makes you more joyful.
If you’re someone who finds themselves stuck in negative thought loops and has trouble believing in themselves, the Law of Attraction can help you out. You can train your mind to only dwell on the positive experiences, to only expect the best for yourself, and to only listen to your inner voice when it lifts you up. It is possible. If you can see a version of you that is excited each day because they have developed a positive view of themselves and the world around them, it is possible for you to change how your brain thinks. The Law of Attraction could only help you as long as you believe it can.
Powerful Techniques To Help You Start Practicing the Law of Attraction
Visualization
Visualization is when you create an image of yourself as the person you want to become. You want to imagine every last detail, from how you think to how you speak, to how you dress, to how you eat. The more detailed and real it is, the more powerful the effect of your visualization is.
Thinking about your success and how it feels also motivates you to stay consistent with whatever it is you are going to achieve. When you visualize, you are activating the law of attraction and reprogramming your subconscious mind to your benefit. Science shows that mental rehearsal, or visualization, affects our brain’s neuroplasticity, which is the ability for our brain to change according to what we think and experience.
Positive Self-Talk
Positive self-talk is not just affirmations; it is the act of speaking to yourself as if you can do everything you dream of in the present tense. Don’t just save this practice for 5 minutes in the morning and before you go to bed. I want you to catch any doubt or limiting belief that crosses your mind and rewire it into something positive and supportive. Positive self-talk makes you feel more confident, and when you believe you can do anything, then you keep going after your goals. Positive self-talk is a very common practice for the Law of Attraction, but it works best when your self-talk is specific and inspiring.
Practice Gratitude
Practicing gratitude for what you already have signals to God or the universe, or whatever you believe in, that you don’t take things for granted and that you see all the beautiful resources that were handed to you. This in turn signals to your higher power that you are ready to receive more.
Whenever you start talking about the things you are grateful for, you realize that we have so much more than we think. It changes how you think about challenges you had in the past and pushes you to see that those were lessons that needed to be taken. Overall, practicing gratitude doesn’t just help you with the Law of Attraction but also creates feelings of abundance, joy, peace, and so many other great emotions within you.
Create a Vision Board
When you create a vision board, you collect pictures, words, and symbols that inspire you to work towards your goals and dreams. Creating a vision board is a way of visually reminding yourself of your future goals. This is a lot different than just writing your goals down. A vision board helps you envision your goals clearly, which is a concept the Law of Attraction preaches. Hanging your vision board up somewhere you can see every day keeps you on track. It’s like a pretty little reminder of your big dreams. And if you do a good job on the board, it’s a nice decoration!
Scripting
Scripting is when you write out your desired reality as if it has already happened. This technique puts a bit of pressure on you to become crystal clear on what you really want for yourself, which sends a clear message out to the universe. Doing this reinforces the belief that the future you desire is possible, and it starts to align your subconscious mind with your desires. When scripting, don’t only write your desired reality; also write how it makes you feel.
Let Go Of Your Desire
Release the outcome of your desire and just have faith that it will happen. Have faith that your manifestation will come, like how you have faith in your body to tell you when you need to drink water. This is often one of the trickiest parts of manifestation. But letting go of the outcome gives the universe space to give you your desires in the most unexpected ways. Remember there are a million and one ways for your manifestation to come about. Expect the unexpected.
Take Inspired Action
When you take inspired action, you follow those intuitive and gut feelings to achieve your goals while also staying open to other opportunities. Manifestation and the Law of Attraction aren’t just about thinking positively and waiting for magic to happen to you. Sometimes manifestation comes to you in the form of an intuitive nudge.
Even if a step feels really small, I promise that nudge was given to you for a reason. With that being said, inspired action is a lot different than forced action. Forced action feels like you just want to get it done and over with, whereas inspired action makes you feel excited and creative. Positive thinking sets the foundation for the Law of Attraction, while inspired action helps the universe co-create your manifestation alongside you.
My goal with this blog is to open up my readers’ eyes to a new reality where they don’t have to struggle, where they don’t have to doubt themselves, and where they don’t have to give up on a huge dream just because other people believe it’s unrealistic. If you practice the Law of Attraction and the Law of Assumption, you can develop self-esteem so powerful that no one else’s limiting beliefs or hurtful words can affect you. Using the Law of Attraction, you can rewire your subconscious brain to support your biggest dreams and doubt your limiting beliefs.
